Gracias/Thanks Dave ~ I had my Home System set to
Automatic Updates in this automatic micro-wave world
and wonder how many even know what their system is
'set' on! I will pass it on.

I know that many times when we are on the Internet
focused only on our computer screens, checking out
web pages, blogging and all our online stuff that we
fail to ever take the time to study our own Personal
Computer system and settings, fail to do timely
maintenance and thus problems can result because of
our own preoccupations, lazy neglect and in-attention.

What you say makes sense. So I switched it by going to
Windows Update, seeing that I had it set to Automatic
Updates, then, changed it to let me check out updates!

off automatic updates in Windows. There's a new
critical patch out that causes major problems on
installation, but leaves you open to worm invasion if
you leave it out. In true MS style, they note that the
patch will secure you from worm action, though side
effects may include deleting your network connections
folder, preventing you from logging in to windows,
etc. Oh, and your applications might not work, either.

machine, though. First time I've hesitated to patch
since SP 2 came out, though thankfully that wasn't as
painful. At this point, my home machine's crucial so I
can't afford to have it wormed, but I can't afford to
let the solution kill my machine, either.
