Mauritius as an ICT Model for Africa

On the road to ICTs, many African countries are finding themselves having a
difficult start. Mauritius, which has managed to pick up its pace of
adopting ICTs, may offer a roadmap for other African countries.  The ICT
Stakeholders Forum, which is being held at the Meridien Hotel in
Pointe-aux-Piments, Mauritius, is paying particular attention to the state
of ICTs in least-developed countries.  The Mauritius example of ICT
adoption is being highlighted throughout the conference.... It is clear
today that ICTs are essential to development; public-private partnerships
are playing a pivotal part. "We should plan public-private partnerships to
achieve development goals in Africa," said Mohan Kaul of the Commonewealth
Business Council. Unfortunately, many Africa countries, corroded by
poverty, are faced with enormous challnges such as fighting famine or
diseases like AIDS and malaria...
