In recognition of the 14th Anniversary of the Americans with
Disabilities
Act (ADA), the Technology Administration and the U.S. Department of
Education will sponsor an Assistive Technology Exhibit and Policy Forum
on
Tuesday, July 27, 2004, from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. in the main lobby
of
the Department of Commerce Herbert C. Hoover Building.  Department
employees are invited to attend.

This event will highlight advances made in assistive technology with
exhibits by over 40 leading companies, government agencies, and
associations advocating for persons with disabilities, and promote and
provide information about assistive technology.  The program will
include
representatives from the Departments of Commerce, Defense, Labor and
Justice, and from the private sector, including General Motors,
Microsoft,
and Hewlett-Packard.  The panel sessions will focus on emerging
technologies in the field, the market potential of new assistive
technology, and advances in assistive technology for all populations.
Sign
language interpreters will be provided and the event will be handicap
accessible through the Aquarium Entrance on 14th Street.
