The above code doesn't compile on 2.059 Win32. 

However this compiles:

import std.stdio;

struct Foo {
    string toString(bool x) { return ""; }
}

void main()
{
    Foo foo;
    writeln(foo.toString(true));  // nogo: ok
    writeln(foo);  // compiles
}
