Both, assignment and comparison, allocate.

LDC is able to promote those to alloca, not sure about DMD or its interaction with @nogc. see https://github.com/ldc-developers/ldc/blob/master/gen/passes/GarbageCollect2Stack.cpp#L832 for the details.
