How many terms are needed? Of the ordinals {first, previous, current, next, last}, however they are named, are any not needed? Are any more needed? randomth? nth?

Current and curr have been suggested. I was only looking at two terms for now, i.e. the front and back position in the range. "next" and "empty" remained less controversial and I was happy to reduce the scope of the vote.
