I get the feeling that, because he is utilizing UFCS, that it is actually calling the built-in array sort and not std.algorithm.sort. The built-in sort is 3-4x slower, so that would explain why his naive quicksort implementation was faster.
Please deprecate/kill the built-in sort before dmd 2.066 is out. Bye, bearophile
