I would dismiss this as "growing pains for a new language" then you find out D is almost 20 years old O.o

...but maintained by how many people on a voluntary basis? You have to take the restricted resources into account as well. It's not like 20 years + Apple or Google behind it. Given how slowly big languages like Java have progressed over the years, one can only admire the wealth of (sometimes innovative) features D has, implemented by a small number of core developers.
