  sudo apt-get install gcc-multilib libc6-i386 lib6-dev-i386
  sudo apt-get install gcc-multilib
  sudo apt-get install g++-multilib

Is there any way to solve this if you don't have root access?

Beats me. Perhaps ask your sys admin?
