   This is the whole point of benchmarking, IMHO - to see how good 
compiler/optimizer (and VM, if any) are - for (almost) same code, same

Regardless, gdc should be roughly inline with gcc for benchmarks, given that it uses the same backend. Pretty sure there have been some big improvements optimization wise since 0.24.
