To be fair, you've got a lot of what I perceive to be exaggerations in
your arguments as well.
And to throw my 2 cents in, what you say just doesn't jive with my
experience. Eclipse used to feel bloated and slow several years ago, but
I've not thought that about it for a while now. I have no problem typing
with background compilation going on, no issues with resource
consumption, or anything else you mention except a slow start-up time. I
use Eclipse frequently, on a 5-year old machine, for both C and Java.
I'd use it for D, too, if the plugins were in a better state. But I've
fallen in love with VisualD for that, so I may never go back. But when
it comes to Java, Eclipse has me spoiled.
