Andy,

I personally have "settled on" MixW.   I made this decision based on several factors.    The main one being having many modes available in one program.   Secondly, I really like the logging in MixW, especially the many ways you can search the log.
I have used many programs, (all of them, I think) and MixW overall is easier to use, less confusing, etc.

Having said this, I still have the soundcard programs by IZ8BLY on my computer.   I recently tried Multipsk and found it very confusing, and too much overkill for me.

Subject: [digitalradio] The digital software dilemma

We've come a long way since dos RTTY software., Pakratt, and Peter Martinez's original PSK31 windows application.  I am sure that I am not the only hams searching for the perfect software application for amateur radio operations.  We are lucky that there are so many applications, almost all free !  I started with Peter's original and moved on to Digipan, then teased Bob Furzer to add Digipan's idea of wide waterfall to his Logger and the result, Zakanaka became my favourite.  I dabbled with MixW because of other modes , a was excited when MMTTY arrived (I even wrote the first rudimentary English help file for MMTTY), played with Hamscope, enjoyed Winwarbler, dabbled with Winpsk and RCKRTTY, even CWGET.  DXLAB suite came out and I jumped on all the features that had to offer... PSK with rig control, DX cluster integration, maps, and a whole lot more.  Then Ham Radio Deluxe with PSK Deluxe came out with even more to temp the ham,  MIxW got more modes, Digipan went wild with a zillion channels and some other new nifty features.  Oh, I forgot I even did Packet via soundcard, APRS, and more.  MMSSTV was also released but I got bored of seeing bikini glad women pixels coming via my receiver.

So today, like the good "crack" amateur radio digitalmode addict that I am, I still searching for the perfect "high"..the killer app that does it all.

Like many other hams, I find my current software utilization to center on several different applications.  Here's what I have currently "settled " on (although I occasionally relapse and wonder off and try others) .

MMVARI by Mako JE3HHT,  Good performance on PSK, RTTY, and MFSK
Ham Radio Deluxe for total, amazing , rig control . A great interface with MMVARI and good log book and a PSK31 super browser
Spotcollector/DX Lab  by AA6YQ for great DX Cluster applications and a logbook with easy LOTW interface

The above are usually loaded and linked whenever I am in the  shack.

Occasionally, I fire up MixW when  HRD scans the bands and discovers a Throb signal.  Digipan still gets used when I simply want to keep an eye on many PSK31 signals at once. and N1MM Logger can be put in to action during contests. PC-ALE when I am thirsty.

What have you guys "settled on" ?
