Kevin...I operate a 706MK2G using the large din plug (not the mini) in the back with a Rascal and find when I couldn't get the PTT to work, either with this setup or a couple of other different radios/interfaces, the problem usually was with picking the wrong COM port and/or the sound sliders dealing with "line in/line out" or some other sound configuration. Rather than getting another interface, I'd suggest playing with these items first and if not successful, getting a Donner interface, which seems to be very reasonable in price and has a lot of satisfied customers ... based on not having read any complaints about the product.
