Craig, the best Olivia frequency reference is at www.hflink.com just go there and click on the
Olivia frequency link. 500/8 seems to be the most common on 40M.

That's cool. MT63 works like that a lot, too. I'm sorry
about my negative remarks, I should have thought before posting. Those
opinions belong on that other list, and all the endless arguing about that
stuff is why I left this list a few months ago. I strongly disagree with the
existence of automatic ham stuff, but whining about it here won't help. I
guess I was a little angry. Again, sorry.
Now, back on subject. Let's
say I want to play with some 500 hz Olivia tonight on 40 meters. What might be
a good freq. to start CQing, and how many tones are generally used? Looks to
me like anything over 8 is just too darn slow. What has been a sorta'
standard? Anyone?
I think I may try between 7075 and 7080 with 500/8
sometime tonight. After dark, which will of course be a little later now -
relatively speaking!

Earlier today I was working a German station
via Olivia 1000/32. While copying , a PACTOR station came on very loud
and totally covered the Olivia signal in my waterfall.
Amazingly, I copied the DL 100% throughout the PACTOR
transmission.
