188-141 does not merit adaptive equalization in my opinion. At 125 tones per second, one of 8 tones is turned on. Each tone sends 3 bits as a result. The data is encoded with a Golay code. This is about twice as fast as is optimal for most HF channels given this kind of transmission (IMO) but the Golay really does work.
