There is a certain milestone in life that one of my friends passed a few years ago. Through the years he had given his outmoded computers to his kids when he upgraded. Then the day came that his son had to get a higher performance computer for his college work and gave his old one to Dad. > I decided to simply buy the cheapest PC I could find at Circuit > City (A USA based electronics chain). One problem you might have with cheapo computers is that the power supplies typically omit any RF filtering. I bought one cheap case and power supply and found them to be very quiet; but another one from the same supplier was a prodigious broadband noise generator, even when the computer was turned off. I replaced it with an Antec supply that is pretty quiet. If you have a Dell computer and need to replace the power supply, beware that the connector pins are arranged differently from the standard ATX board, so you have to get a power supply made for Dell computers. Similarly if you have in mind to replace the mother board in a Dell box. ------------------------ Yahoo! Groups Sponsor --------------------~--> See what's inside the new Yahoo!
