Hello Bruce and all, >After I make a "general call" approx 45 seconds later, while receiving, I >noticed I trasmit a short "burst". Is this a "This is" >or "That was" >post-amble or something else? I'm not sure of what you call "general call". If you mean "CQ" in ARQ FAE, about each 10 seconds it is automatically transmitted a CQ, until a Ham answers to your call.
If you mean a QRZ or HFL net call, it's normal that after sometimes you have an ultimate acknowledgment. Here is an extract from the help file: ............................................. The acknowledgment of these calls takes place 13 seconds after the call for QRZ and 41 seconds after the call for HFL. So, if the HFL call permits the answer of 10 Hams, the duration between call and acknowledgment is large. It will be prefered, at first, the QRZ call. .................................................. 73 Patrick ----- Original Message ----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: digitalradio@yahoogroups.com Sent: Sunday, July 08, 2007 7:05 PM Subject: [digitalradio] Re: ALE Linking and Texting with Multipsk Hi Patrick, thanks for the info!!, Yes, I'm currently running 4.3.1, very nice program!! On last question (for now :-) ) . After I make a "general call" approx 45 seconds later, while receiving, I noticed I trasmit a short "burst". Is this a "This is" or "That was" post-amble or something else? (I'm having a strange issue with feedback on the soundcard, where I need to take the transmitter out of VOX when I want to receive. Haven't seen this in any other mode or program, not sure why it's hapening here. Tnx agn es 73 Bruce -W3NJ ==================== Hello Bruce, May I permit to answer in place of Bonnie (who is irreplaceable but...). I suppose that you have the Multipsk 4.3.1 version: >1) I had a station return the call, since I heard ALE signals and my >"aux function" window automatically opened up....is that normal It's normal when you receive a ARQ FAE mail. In that case all is automatic, wait for the end of transmission (there is a meter to indicates the degree of mail reception and some other indications displayed) and afterwards read your mail (button "Mail"). 2)assuming #1, where does the stations callsign show up? It was weak so it may not have decoded. For all ALE modes, the received call is displayed to the right of the "FRM" label, in the main window (and also in the "Aux. functions" window at the end of mail reception). And to the right of the "Mail" button, in the main window, you have the type of ALE mode (AMD, DTM, DBM, FAE...) used. 3) On the exchange, I assume it's my call (not the other stations on the AMD message: MULTIPSK W3NJ BRUCE 599 true? Yes. You can exchange easily and at any time AMD messages from the "Aux. functions" window. There are stored in the mail box too. 4) If I'm just monitoring the freq, should I see other traffic? Is there an equivalent to "Pass all" like on Packet to see all traffic, even "corrupted" exchanges? You will see all the ALE traffic. For more that messages, unchecked in the "Options" window: * Display of messages, only, * All frames display (included DATA, REPEAT). Look at other options too. Note: if you are called, the answer will be automatic (there is no option for a "no answer"). 5) Are the ARQ FAE exchange(s) all done from the Aux window? When, if any time, is the "main window used for ALE exchanges? I see a "button" for ARQ FAE in the main window...what's it's purpose? On the main screen, push "Call" for a standard ARQ FAE CQ (general call). Any Ham can answer you and you will then have a QSO as in PSK31, except that it is a ARQ protocol (no errors). The "Aux. functions" is for more specific needs: * AMD messages, * Open Net calls, * FAE APRS position transmission, * ARQ FAE message transmission, and in the next version: * message to a particular Ham, * mail directly done from Outlook Express. 73 Patrick ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
