Mike, We started out on SSB using PSK63, then switched to FM using PSK63, but have had the most luck with DominoEx 8 for our twice-weekly FM net, so I suggest you look at DominoEx 8, which is in fldigi or Multipsk.
Theoretically, when using FM, drift should not be a problem and PSK31 should work as well as DominoEX, but we have found that for signals under limiting and quieting, DominoEx seems better. For those with FM-only transceivers, VOX is usually not available, so you need an interface with built-in VOX, like the SignaLink USB, for PTT switching by the software. I have developed a low cost alternative interface for FM-only transceivers. I know the range isn't like HF, but it could be something to break the same old same old on 2M. Thanks Mike, KE7TQC
