DUTIES >> • Conducts user research on single projects and/or multiple related projects (suites, multi-platform, or multi-user) in consumer and enterprise software, web applications and websites.
SKILLS >> Has direct experience in all of the following:
•All phases of usability testing, from determining participants to recruiting to conducting the study to presenting findings to engineers and executives.
•Has experience with at least 3 additional methods, including but not limited to osurveys, cognitive walkthroughs, expert/heuristic reviews, focus groups, customer site visits, contextual inquiry, creating persona or user profiles, task analysis, statistical analysis of behavioral data, prototyping (paper, flash or other interactive), recruiting, phone interviews, or related tasks.
•Should have technical knowledge required to use typical setups for a usability test, such as hardware (desktop machines, servers, camera equipment, audio equipment) and software (Morae, MS Office and PowerPoint). Should be able to “walk up and use” a standard usability lab setup.
Can do the following with limited help from internal User Research staff:
•Plan and develop test plans for single studies or research plans for a series of related studies.
•Collect, analyze and interpret user and user task data •Write reports and make presentations (both brief overviews and detailed fact-based reports)
The candidate must be familiar with basic User Centered Design (UCD) principals, theories and concepts. UCD is also known as Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, HCI, User Interface, Human Interface, Software Ergonomics, Usability and User Experience, among others.
Prefer candidates who have experience:
•With both consumer and enterprise software.
•With both products and website/web applications. Product experience is a must.
EDUCATION >> Completed or working on BA/BS in Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, or related discipline or at least 3-5 years of industry experience. We will also accept Computer Science, Marketing or other degrees only if taken coursework in usability, HCI, or related discipline.

Masters
degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Human Factors
, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering, Psychology, or a related field.
- Six years of experience in user-centered design methodology and practices, user interface design and usability guidelines and principles.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of principles of information architecture, interaction design, visual design, usability and accessibility
- Conduct user research to understand the needs and work practice of end users; and document findings into work models for existing practices.
- Create wireframes/prototypes using prototyping tools like Microsoft Visio, Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop, Dreamweaver, etc. by applying design/usability principles; may assist in the development of user interfaces.
- Conduct usability inspections (heuristic evaluations, cognitive walkthroughs etc.) and design reviews for software applications at various stages of the design and development cycle.
- Design and conduct usability tests, analyze data and communicate the results to development and business teams.
- Experience with Microsoft Visio, HTML, CSS, _javascript_, Flash, or other relevant technologies,
usability testing tools like TechSmith Morae.

Proven ability to understand and integrate customer needs into software product design.

Must possess strong design skills and ability to generate ideas and strategic approaches to solving problems.
- Must possess the ability to work effectively on multiple software development projects simultaneously.
- Works closely with multidisciplinary teams from design, engineering, development and business.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in order to effectively interact with business and software development teams.
