*Description:*



·        Layer 2/ LAN Switching troubleshooting (not design, monitoring or
installation)



·        Nexus-OS is required (Nexus 7k/ N7K preferred)

·        Job is taking calls from live customer in emergency situations,
must be able to lead on the call, be seen as trusted advisor and work well
within the team





·        Provide second line phone/email/fax consultation to independently
debug complex network problems.



·        Acts as a focal point for large account network problem resolution.

·        Provides support on a world-wide basis to customers.

·        Provide systems/product training to peers within team.

·        Acts as a technical expert and is a go-to resource for the team.



·        Works independently, receiving minimal supervision, with no
instruction on routine work and general instruction on new
assignments. --Interfaces
with lower level CSE's, VARs, OEMs & end-users & internal engineering
departments.



·        Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis requires
evaluation of identifiable factors.



·        Ability to analyze, use and configure medium to large networks

·        Minimum 3+ years of LAN experience with specific expertise sought
in configuration and troubleshooting of Catalyst 6500 and other legacy LAN
Switching platforms.



·        Clear understanding of ISO's OSI model and TCP/IP protocol suite.



·        Understanding of Layer2 protocols and ability to think solutions
to difficult problems arising on a day to day in a real world
implementations.

·        In depth protocol knowledge of different spanning-tree
implementations and hands on experience solving network outages.



·        Debugging experience on resolving issues related to FHRP, ARP/MAC,
Unicast flooding, Multicast(IGMP, PM), QOS(Queueing and scheduling
algorithms viz.., WRR, LLQ, RED, WRED) , PVLAN, Etherchannel, Trunking,
VTP, SPAN Monitor, REP.



·        Requires strong background in switching, implementation, customer
interfacing, and troubleshooting usability, interoperability, and quality
of the 6k/7k product lines.



·        Working knowledge and ability to understand the architecture of
Nexus 7000, Line cards ( M-series/F-series).



·        In-depth understanding of the protocols LACP, UDLD, DHCP, BFD.



·        knowledge of nexus related features VTP, Fabric path, OTV, TRILL,
LISP

·        Knowledge of VPC, Fabric Path, OTV, TRILL, LISP is a required.

·        Experience and exposure to routing protocols and large scale
architecture.

·        Effective communication skills both verbally and written are
imperative for this position.

·        Proven crisis management skills

·        Ability and willingness to work various shifts is needed
