*Position: Senior Network Engineer* *Location: Waltham, MA**(Local candidates only)* *only consider local candidates who can do face to face interview * *Description:* The Sr. Network Engineer will supervise and/or perform the installation, configuration, and testing of LAN/WAN/Wireless/Voice environments and interface as necessary with vendors to resolve system configurations, integration problems, and other issues. Will interface and work closely with the Network Security organizations as well other IT groups. Offer advisory support to reporting manager and to senior management team, when needed. Will provide Tier 3 level troubleshooting support for the various networks. The individual will configure and support routing, switching, firewall, voice systems, load balancers and wireless controllers. Expected to document all work and procedures, and also ensure that this information is published, refreshed and shared across the global teams. This is a hands-on technical role. Designs, modifies, develops, and implements Cisco Networks. Supports and/or installs Cisco equipment. Has a solid understanding of IP addressing and subnetting, configuring, troubleshooting OSPF and EIGRP. Must be able to Set up and configure complex Layer 2 and Layer 3 switched and routed environments within multi-site customer networks and resolve network based connectivity and performance issues. Candidate should have a solid understanding of Cisco ASA and Palo Alto firewalls. Requires CCNP level with 5+ years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. May report directly to a project lead or manager. 35% Engineering of network-related solutions for project and operational needs. Develop network design, perform installations of new / repurposed network equipment, configuration of network equipment and testing. Ensure design and configuration is consistent with standards and project/operational requirements. Document network for architecture, design and operational purposes. Write documentation for hardware certification. Engineering scope includes switches, routers, wireless controllers, Network Performance Monitoring software, WAN Accelerators, proxy-servers and DMZ 35% Develop and maintain installation and configuration procedures. Contribute to and maintain network standards. Strong focus on network and systems security. Provide ongoing Level 3 operational support to assist in the diagnosis and resolution of network problems. Support includes participating on operation calls, monitoring, assessing and isolating issues and anomalies and working with operations in resolving problems. 10% Research and recommend innovative and where possible automated approaches for network administrative tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale. 10% Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Periodically assess capacity demand and make a determination of changes required to optimize network to meet demand. 10% Consult with application or infrastructure development project leaders to harmonize networks or infrastructure with standards and identify when it is necessary to modify the solution architecture to accommodate the project needs. *Education and Experience:* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or similar work experience strongly preferred Certification: CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE with Microsoft Certification highly desirable 5-7 years of relevant experience in working with clients, consultants and multiple technology teams is essential Experience in Life Sciences industry preferred but not required This position requires someone who is self-managing, able to work independently and capable of completing assignments successfully with minimal supervision Networking: Switches, Routers, Servers, Cables, Racks, Firewalls, LAN, WAN, TCP/IP,DNS, UDP, VOIP, QOS, EIGRP, BGP, IGP, OSPF, HSRP/VRRP, Cisco VSS Datacenter Network Design and Implementation (Nexus 7k, 5k, 2k, OTV, VDC, VPC) Experience with WAN Acceleration Experience with Cloud Technology and Microsoft Lync 2013 desirable Must be inquisitive, confident and energetic Must be able to encounter unfamiliar technologies, application and situations, figure them out, and provide solutions that match both our clients' and our company's needs Must very organized, dependable and detailed-oriented Must be able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, agile environment Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills Track record for remaining unbiased toward any specific technology or vendor, and for being more interested in results than preferences Interpret and/or discuss information with others, which involves terminology or concepts not familiar to many people; regularly provide advice and recommend actions involving rather complex issues.
