Role: Sr. Test Automation Analyst

The Senior Test Automation Analyst is the testing automation expert
assigned to a team to provide leadership in the delivery of complete and
accurate test products.

Responsibilities: The following section contains the primary
responsibilities for this position. Job holder is responsible for
performing any other duties as assigned by management.
• Reviews and provides input to requirements/design documents.
• Develops or provides input to detailed test plans, providing estimates of
effort and outline of test automation approach.
• Develops, maintains, and executes automated tests using the selected
tool, which will likely require programming in C, C++, Java, or some
scripting language.
• Works with the Development team to capture and reuse automated Unit Test
Cases, Test Stubs and Drivers, and other Development test objects.
• Works with the Configuration Management team to create and maintain an
automated build verification (“smoke”) test.
• Ensures proper version control and configuration management of all test
objects developed and test environments used.
• Leads test script reviews.
• Manages the library of existing automation components and assures re-use
of assets and components whenever possible.
• Works with the SMEs to improve testing coverage and quality.
• Triages and reports test defects and analyzes trends.
• Develops test data where needed.
• Executes SQL commands to manage and verify data.
• Ensures traceability of test scripts to requirements.
• Manages training/technical issues with testing tools and participates in
tool selection.
• Provides leadership to more junior testing staff.
• Keeps abreast of changes in technology, standards, and relevant
developments in IT & testing by maintaining professional competency through
training, reading, and linkages with professional organizations.
• Participates in team meetings.
• Participates in tester interviews.
Experience, Education, and Abilities:
• 3+ years prior software automation testing experience.
• Programming, system administration, or database administration experience
is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, in computer science or
engineering.
• Strong knowledge of the software development life cycle and roles.
• Strong knowledge of test concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Experience in C#, C++, JavaScript, Perl, Shell, or VBScript and
willingness to learn new automation testing languages.
• Experience in HTTP, XML, API/Web Services, MQ/FTP protocols.
• Experience in SQL queries and stored procedures on Oracle database.
• Knowledge of stress and performance testing methodologies and tools.
• Expert in building test automation frameworks from the ground up for PSR
(Performance, Load & Reliability) testing and well as Functional Regression
Testing utilizing both API and GUI driven methods.
• Should have a strong working knowledge of networking server technologies
and protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP, Proxy Servers, Load Balancers).
• Strong knowledge of HP Unified Functional Tester (UFT), QuickTestPro
(QTP) and LoadRunner.
• Excellent systems integration knowledge.
• Strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
• Negotiating and consensus-building skills.
• Excellent verbal and written skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Customer-focused, service-oriented.
• Confident in Microsoft Office products – Word, Excel, Outlook,
PowerPoint, Visio

QUALIFICATIONS:
• BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Experience in HTTP, XML, API/Web Services, MQ/FTP protocols.
• Experience in SQL queries and stored procedures on Oracle database.
• Experience with scripting and automation tools including authoring of
scripts via Shell Scripts, Batch Scripts, Java, and C#
• Solid Experience using configuration management tools, such as
Subversion, Jenkins, Archiva, Maven, and MSBuild
• Solid understanding of orchestration systems and performing tasks on
multiple servers concurrently
• Experience with JIRA, HP ALM Quality Center Edition, and ServiceNow is
extremely beneficial

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develops, maintains, and executes automated tests using programming
laungage in C, C++, Java, or some scripting language.
• Works with the Dev team to capture and reuse automated Unit Test Cases,
Test Stubs and Drivers, and other Development test objects.
• Engineer solutions from the ground up using preferred languages (shell
scripting, batch scripting, java, and c#), as well as support existing
systems written in other languages
• Work with a variety of commercial and open source products, such as HP
Unified Functional Tester, or HP QTP, Selenium, etc
• Demonstrate leadership, organizational and communication skills; both
verbal and written
• Support a heterogeneous environment where both Windows and Linux
operating systems are implemented
