Position Details:
Business Analysts (BAs) at HP interact directly with clients, users and all
members of the project team, acting as the conduit between stakeholders and
users and the software delivery organization. Responsibilities include
elicitation, analysis, documentation, validation, and management of
requirements.
Though the industries and business challenges will vary, the common theme
in the ideal Business Analyst is the ability to apply proven business and
analytical skills using established frameworks, methodologies, and
processes.
HP Business Analysts are comfortable working as a team member or team
leader, working independently, or in multidisciplinary project teams. They
are adaptable, resourceful, and can tailor their approach to fit different
organizational cultures.
BA III Specialists are senior Business Analysts with strong knowledge of
the application delivery life cycle and RDP methodologies, processes, tools
and standards.

The BA will act as a liaison between the client and technical
solutions/support groups, using advanced communication skills to elicit,
document, analyze and validate business processes, systems, and solution
requirements. The BA will coordinate and participate in all aspects of the
business cycle, including proposals, feasibility studies, and
implementations.

This person will be an effective communicator, self-motivated, and able to
work proactively in a dynamic environment with Clients, Applications
Delivery Team Members, Project Managers, Business Analysts, and Business
Operations Team Members.

Skills Required: MUST HAVE ALL REQUIRED SKILLS TO BE CONSIDERED

Business Analysts in this role will have successfully demonstrated the
following skills over a Minimum of 2 years of related experience or a
Master’s degree and up to two years of experience.

• Requirements Elicitation – researching, interviewing
• Facilitation – Preparing and leading workshops (e.g., JAD) and
information-gathering sessions
• Requirements Determination – using structured, repeatable processes for
documenting, analyzing and validating requirements
• Business Analysis – Evaluating information from multiple sources;
decomposing high-level information into details; abstracting low-level
information; distinguishing requests vs needs; distinguishing requirements
from solutions; and classifying, synthesizing, and prioritizing
requirements
• OO Analysis – using UML models, use cases and object-oriented approaches
to capture, structure and communicate business needs
• Structured Requirements: capturing details with precision; driving out
ambiguity; ensuring consistent understanding across clients, designers and
testers
• Business Process Modeling – Documenting and diagramming current state
business processes, then deriving and documenting/diagramming
desired/future state high-level business processes
• Scope Management – defining scope, managing expectations, identifying
potential change
• Requirements Management – creating and maintaining baselines and
traceability
• Change Management – identifying, assessing and managing changes
• Issue & Risk management – identifying, managing, mitigating and
escalating
• Creativity and Problem Solving – bringing innovative ideas to complex
problems
• Collaboration – building relationships and working effectively with
internal and external teams, at all organizational levels
• Flexibility: Candidates must be flexible and able to adapt quickly and
confidently to rapidly changing roles, objectives and priorities.
• Leadership – Communicating vision clearly; providing inspiration,
mentoring and feedback
• Effective Communication:
o Verbal: explaining, questioning, exploring and listening
o Written: presenting information and communicating concepts to business
and technical audiences at all levels.
• Effective Presentations – Preparing and delivering at the right level of
detail for each audience and deliver with a communicative, professional and
engaging style
• Experience in an industry domain.
• Educational background should include a Bachelor’s degree in a technical
or business discipline or equivalent experience and a minimum of 6 years
related experience or a Master’s degree and a minimum of 4 years of
experience.


Optional Skills:
• Knowledge and understanding of the workings of prison / jail management
systems is a huge advantage.


Job Responsibilities:
Under minimal direction, formulate and define system scope and objectives
based on both user needs and a good understanding of information
technology, business processes, and industry requirements.
Act as a liaison between customer and technical solutions/support groups,
using advanced communication skills to elicit, document, analyze and
validate customer requirements.
Apply extensive knowledge of the customer’s business and industry to
develop requirements specifications. Document requirements, and translate
into proper system requirements specifications using high-maturity methods,
processes and tools. Develop visualization, user experience and
configuration elements of solution design.
Execute and coordinate requirements management and change management
processes. Develop and maintain internal and external relationships to
support management of scope and expectations.
Coordinate and participate in proposals, feasibility studies,
implementations, and new business development. Operates as a team member
and as a team leader.
Advise on methods to improve business processes. Consider the business
implications of the application of technology to the current and future
business environment.
May lead the training of customers and peers.
