Simply if the mrl has no video (i.e. it's an audio file), the 
VideoProvider starts
an audio visualization plugin (such as the wonderful goom). The plugin is
selected according to the "gui.post_audio_plugin" variable in 
~/.xine/config
(the same config variable used by X11 xine fronthead).
