There's a geodefb driver in the 2.6 kernel. I don't know if it works with your particular chipset, and it also does not have a pan_display hook. Maybe, if you have time, you can port your patch to 2.6 and send a confirmatory message to myself, and/or to the fbdev list: [EMAIL PROTECTED], and I'll get your changes to mainline.
