On a Via EPIA MII system I have here sometimes when starting my DirectFB application all I see is a multi-color pattern on the screen that looks similar to the "snow" pattern you see on a television set. Rebooting seems to clear the problem but I have been unable to determine the cause or even how to programatically determine when it is happening. I have compared the output of a "good" versus "bad" boot for the following items: /var/log/messages, dfbinfo, dfblayer, dfbdump, dfbscreen. I don't see any relevant differences.
One thing I do note (which may not be related) is that when I run many of the dfb tools (e.g. dfbinfo) the line that states: "(*) Direct/Memcpy: _______" will say either "Using SSE optimized memcpy ()" or "Using MMXEXT optimized memcpy()" Could this be a problem?
