What you're doing looks really neat. However, I think it is going to be a lot 
of work...

What is your primary goal?
If it is to write your own Widget Set for DFB, more power to you, and good 
luck, but I think it will be some work. And in the end you will have to write 
all the apps as well!
If the aim is to have a non-X-based environment for applications, have you 
considered building on some of the stuff that is out there?

Enlightenment (www.enlightenment.org), for example, is a pretty neat window 
manager, which in many areas is also trying to go 'its own way'. It would 
provide code for widget sets, window management, bitmaps and much more, all it 
would need would be a DFB back-end. Much less work for you, and a bunch of 
people already out there programming widgets...

Another useful project might be the GTK-DFB port - all that would really need 
is a window manager and you'd be running many GTK apps...

Just some thoughts...
