We're working here in Brazil in a implementation of embedded software (that used DirectFB library) to a Digital TV set-top box. This particular implementation was built by a local university and probably will be selected by the Brazilian government as the standard implementation for the "Brazilian Digital TV Standard".

One of the government concerns it’s about the price of the set-top box (they want it cheap).

So we’ll like to know if we have to pay any kind of Royalties for using DirectFB library.

We’re concern about the algorithms used to decode multimedia formats (TrueType, JPEG, PNG, GIF)…

Do we have to pay to use them?

Thanks for your attention.
