The software driver works very well. I've tested it myself when developing the Blinkenlights IPaq player that of course uses DirectFB. The problem is that we don't (yet) support display rotation and the IPaq frame buffer device is rotated with respect to the default usage of a handheld device. It shouldn't be too hard to add rotation. Please let us know if you want to hack on this.
