so something like this
kernel.... vga=761 video=1024x768:vesa:444

Hi

I've just tried to get XDirectFB working on my system and failed due to
the missing of /dev/fb0. Funny part is, I had it working once on another
installation. I know for sure that I've got the matrox specific modules
loaded (mplayer -vo dfbmga is the real goal) but whenever I experimented
with this before /dev/fb0 was already there. Now I can't find out what
I've got to do to get it. I'm using devfs and kernel 2.4.21 vanilla +
fusion/matroxfb-vsync.

modprobe fusion, i2c-matroxfb got me:

i2c-matroxfb 2676 0 (unused)
i2c-algo-bit 7592 0 [i2c-matroxfb]
i2c-core 13572 0 [i2c-algo-bit]
fusion 19296 0
matroxfb_base 19172 0 [i2c-matroxfb]
matroxfb_accel 8264 0 [matroxfb_base]
fbcon-cfb24 4456 0 [matroxfb_accel]
fbcon-cfb8 3560 0 [matroxfb_accel]
fbcon-cfb16 4168 0 [matroxfb_accel]
fbcon-cfb32 3816 0 [matroxfb_accel]
matroxfb_misc 15412 0 [i2c-matroxfb matroxfb_base
matroxfb_accel]

Bye David

PS: I know that the question is rather silly because I'm missing
something very obvious. Doesn't help me to see it though. ;-)
