For the online version you might be talkning of :
http://bisqwit.iki.fi/source/fbmodes.html
It's also the program I've used to generate the fb.modes I need :
# xres 1280, yres 720, xlen 1392, ylen 750, xofs 56, yofs 10,
# mem 32000 kB, depth 32, hslen 40, vslen 10,
# pixclock 15964.2 ps, hfreq 45000 Hz, refresh 60 Hz
# CLI : fbmodes -x1280 -y720 -r60 -f45000 -d 32 -m 32000
mode "720p"
geometry 1280 720 1280 25600 32
timings 15964 16 56 10 10 40 10
endmode
With this tool I can put the exact H-Freq of my projector, not sure that it
changes a lot, but it'll help me to sleep peace in mind :)
No time to try it tonight, maybe tomorrow.

for future reference. you can use the GTF to create timings. I forget
where I got this. (I imagine from VESA's website) but this generates fb
and x timings using the GTF.
gtf 1280 720 60 -f
mode "1280x720 60.00Hz 32bit (GTF)"
# PCLK: 74.48 MHz, H: 44.76 kHz, V: 60.00 Hz
geometry 1280 720 1280 720 32
timings 13426 192 56 22 1 136 3
hsync low
vsync high
endmode
I imagine fmodes does that, but incase it helps anyone on the list.
