Unless you are referring to a newer version (I'm looking at 1.4.0), I don't
see how I (or DirectFB) could make use of the Pango glyph caching. Things
like the function mentioned above are not available for external use.. Am I
looking in the wrong place perhaps?

Hmm, that has been pre-alpha stage for a long time now.. Website still says FT
Layout is not currently available. I had a look at CVS, and there have been
no updates for several years..
