Can anyone give me some tips on using XDirectFB with other DirectFB
apps? I have a Matrox G400 and I run Freevo, which besides using
dfbmga itself, uses mplayer, zsnes (SNES emulator), fceu (NES
emulator), et al. The primary purpose of this box is to be a Freevo
system, which it does perfectly. But the vast majority of the time,
nobody's recording TV, watching TV, or playing a game, so there's
plenty of spare CPU power. I'd like to be able to use the box as a
desktop PC (i.e., Freevo uses second head for TV output, first head
goes to monitor for websurfing and stuff).

I managed to get XDirectFB working to get Dropline Gnome (I use
Slackware) to start, but the mouse doesn't work and it's very slow.
The Gnome GUI is slow and if I kick off Freevo or mplayer, that's very
slow too.

Is there anything I should look out for to improve performance, or
should I just get a better computer? Any idea on why the mouse doesn't
work?

Thank you very much. And much thanks to the creators of DirectFB for
all their hard work.
