matroxset is not related to DirectFB's TV-out support. However if you
want to try matroxfb's TV-out support google should be able to find some
guides.
I've google away for the last couple of days, but up-to-date information
seems to be hard to find.
I think that I've got this sorted not 100% but about 90%
Let me see if I can summarise what I've found, please just tell me if
each point is correct.
1) The kernel requires
CONFIG_FB_MATROX=y
CONFIG_FB_MATROX_G=y
CONFIG_FB_MATROX_I2C=m
CONFIG_FB_MATROX_MAVEN=m (optional)
(The MAVEN module is required for using the matrox set utility and is
*not* wanted for TV-out)
(The I2C modules is required for TV-out.)
2) The /etc/directfbrc or ~/.directfbrc requires
matrox-crtc2
matrox-tv-standard=pal
matrox-cable-type=composite
primary-layer=2
(primary-layer=2 sets the TV-out as the default layer)
3) Running mplayer with
mplayer <file>.avi -vo dfbmga:crtc2 -ao oss -fs
plays the file, using the second head as the output device
4) Running mplayer with
mplayer <file>.avi -vo dfbmga:bes -ao oss -fs
plays the file, using the primary head as the output device, even though
the primary layer is set.
The problem with exiting the programs seems to be something else,
nothing to do with the kernel but some thing to do with running dfb apps
from an xterm on another machine. Running it locally causes no problems.
Now avi files or mpeg files play but there is something wrong with the
timings as the picture has patterns running over the picture. It doesn't
matter is the composite of s-video connectors are used.
Any ideas how to correct this?
Thanks again
Duncan
