Hi! Thanks for the hint -> checking out by Date, as the Debian Installer does, proved to be the key. The CVS of gdk-directfb from 18.1.2006 matches gtk+-2.8.10.
gtk-demo is working now. I've updated the WikiPage to reflect these instructions, so people should be able to build against 2.8.10 now... Let me know when the directfb backend is in the GTK tree, and I'll give it another try and update the instructions again... Thanks!
