That because DirectFBGL implementation from directfb.org doesn't support
software rendering; it only supports hardware rendering with the mga dri
driver therefore it doesn't work at all with other cards.

I think the fbdev dri driver is a bit outdated and unmaintained.
What about using the directfbgl driver included in Mesa (make
linux-directfb)?

Sorry, I said ctrl+sysrq+del in the previous post while it is alt+sysrq+del.
