Attilio, I have exported PKG_CONFIG_PATH

 PKG_CONFIG_PATH="/usr/local/lib/pkgconfig"
 export PKG_CONFIG_PATH

 and I did ./configure .... but I got the same error message...

 I use default prefix for all libs...

Have you exported correct LD_LIBRARY_PATH and PKG_CONFIG_PATH variables
like it's explained in the GTKDFB wikipage ?
