I'm having trouble displaying UTF-8 encoded characters on screen on one linux box, but they show up OK on another and I can't figure out where's the problem. Boxes are completely different, one is normal desktop PC and another is small, sort of embedded VIA EPIA system. "Embedded" box - doesn't display UTF-8 characters (small system): - Gentoo linux - Kernel 2.6.23 - DirectFB 1.1.1 - no X11 - Freetype 2.3.5 - viafb v2.6.00.03a Desktop box - displays UTF-8 characters (desktop system) - Ubuntu 7.10 - Kernel 2.6.22 - DirectFB 1.1.0 - X11 - Freetype 2.3.5 - Radeonfb Both boxes are using the same source code and whatever I tried, the result is the same: works fine on desktop box, but doesn't show UTF-8 characters on target box, as if they are not there.
