I run directfb gl driver based on X11 on ubuntu which is running in
vmware. glxinfo says it has two GLX Visuals:

2 visuals may be too little if you think that a community written driver
like Radeon offers 16 and a good proprietary driver like Nvidia offers 120.
and what do u mean by "16 now or 32 with KMS activated"?
The Radeon driver with Kernel Mode Setting offers 32 visuals. But still
no luck. Google KMS for more info
