Good morning,
I am using a EEEPC 701 with a native resolution of 800x480 and I'd like to use this very resolution in DirectFB. Using only vesafb, I realized that such resolution can't be obtained : the only modes available are 4:3 ones. Therefore I can't use a parameter at boot tu set the right (800x480) resolution. I tried to switch resolution using SetVideoModes, but the best I get is a buffer of the desired resolution partially displayed on the screen, which is still in 640x480. The way the buffer is cropped depends on the kind of cooperative level I use, but none of the 3 levels work the way I'd like.

I wanted to stick with directFB on top of the vesafb powered framebuffer, but it looks it won't do the trick. Could you tell me how I could get the resolution I want ? Do I have to install X ? I'm very new to this stuff and must confess that I don't understand much. I'd be delighted if somebody could explain me what the issue is and what I have to do. Thanks in advance.

I'm using DirectFB 1.0 (this is the version in debian stable)
