I recently set up a friend with dirvish (on Ubuntu 6.06 Desktop 64bit).

Backing up his laptop (OSX 10.4.9) worked like a charm.

His wife's laptop (Windows XP Pro) doesn't do the job, neither with the rsync from cwRsync nor with the current Cygwin version (2.6 series) - it starts the transfer as expected but stalls at always around 3MB. It's not generally the exact same amount (or even generally the same file), but it's always in the same region.

A quick google turned up some timing problems on Windows that have ostensibly been fixed in late 2.5 versions; nothing else that seemed useful.

I've suppressed the -x option already as that is reported to cause weirdness on Windows.

Any more ideas or similar observations?

I distinctly remember dirvish working fine with Windows2k boxen using Cygwin, I'd /really/ love to get there again.

lg, Bernd
