I've been using Dirvish for a long time now, and it's saved my life
couple of times. The way it uses hard links and dates for building a
space-saving history of the system is a great help when you have to go
back to a point before something odd happened. I use SATA harddisks in a
USB stand which I swap every week.

So my question is: Which advantages would a re-write have over the
existing Dirvish?

And what do you mean "permission from buerocrats"? When it's your code,
you can do with it what you want, it's open source after all.

Thanks for your time!
