I found this thread http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg01457.html and I copied the script from it. Had to do a bit fiddling to get syntax correct, which was a bit corrupted in places due to the html format mailinglist thing. Trying to understand the caveats you write about, but not sure I see any real caveats. Anyways last successful backup of my laptop is dated 2012-12-10, which is scheduled to expire on 17th.
