Hi, in the past I've been hacking on the Dirvish source code and made some attempts to improve it in different ways but I came to realize, that I won't be able to achieve my goals based on that codebase. My attempts are now available on GitHub [1] for archival.
So after Dirvish I've tried rsnapshot. It wasn't much fun. Based on those experiences I decided to write my own backup "wrapper" around rsync. It is heavily based on my work with Dirvish and rsnapshot but based on a clean/fresh codebase. The code has been in production use for some time now, but it is still considered alpha quality. Since the approach used is exatly the same as with Dirvish there won't be any noticeable performance differences. The focus was on improved logging and monitoring capabilities. If you are happy with Dirvish stay with it. But if you're missing something with Dirvish I invite you to check out RevoBackup at GitHub [2]. Still being in an early development stage is also an opportunity to include further features. If you have any ideas/wishes please use the Issue Tracker at GitHub or feel free to send me Patches/Pull Requests.
