My (admittedly dated) experience with btrs was that btrfs especially had trouble deleting expired vaults. That takes a lot of time for the garbage collection which cleans up unused data in the background. That said there have been patches posted to this list to use brfs snapshots instead of the hard-linked vaults, that might work better. I also triggered a lot of XFS bugs when using that as a 3TB+ bank for dirvish, also a number of years ago. I personally stick to ext4, I've never been disappointed by filesystem problems with that.
