I have installed 'Electric' version 8.04. This is really amazing!
I would like to try on some of the analog blocks. Can I use 4
terminal MOS devices in 'Electric' as is often the case where the
body is not tied to the source in analog circuits? What would be
limitations? (The manual says 'Electric does not keep track of the
connectivity of the substrate connection of layout transistors.')
You can place 4-terminal transistors from the schematics
technology. Their use may or may not work, depending on the
simulation environment. For Analog simulators such as Spice, all 4
connections are written, and it will work fine. For some digital
simulators, the bias connection is ignored, and so you may have
trouble if you are doing non-digital wirings.
Also what would be the case when the body of MOS is not tied to
the substrate? How is it handled in Electric?
In such a case, the Spice netlist will be incomplete, and other
netlists will not notice.
