I'm not aware of any mass-usable Android port. Usually, you don't compile on the android (embedded) device itself, so cross-compiling is absolutely preferable. Please understand that while Android is based on a linux kernel, the userland is quite different from usual GNU/Linux systems, thus making porting of complex, multithreaded applications non-trivial.
