You can basically ignore benchmark_tx.py, it's deprecated, will be removed soon and uses old APIs.
However, in an nutshell, benchmark_tx.py is a transmitter application, whereas tx_ofdm.grc is a GRC flowgraph that demonstrates the internals of the OFDM transmitter.
