did you save your project, did the GNUmakefiles got generated? In that case, please follow Philippe's advice and in a shell try "make" there to see if they are valid. i t never happened to me that they are invalid.
My other guess is that the make tool might not be found for some reason, check the ProjectCenter preferences.
