There has been a fair amount of discussion on this list regarding
expiration notices going out
to domains that have been transferred away from OpenSRS.

Does anyone know what happens if a customer tries to renew a domain that
has been transferred ?

My guess is there are one of two possibilities

1 - the customer is given the impression the renewal is processed
        if so this is a problem, and needs to be addressed

2 - the customer gets an error message
        if this is the case then maybe the error message can be customized to
indicate 
        that the domain has been transferred to another registrar and possibly the
registrar
        of record??

Seems to me this is a relatively simple proceedure, when someone tries to
log in to the manage or renew interface run a whois to confirm that OpenSRS
is the registrar and if not determine who the registrar is and return that
data as part of the error message.

just my .02 on moving in a direction that avoids problems for RSP's and
OpenSRS.
